Day 7 - Santa Cruz Island

The original plan was to visit the Charles Darwin Research Center on Santa Cruz Island, perhaps do some souvenir shopping, and, if we were lucky, get a view of the famous tortoise - "Lonesome George." Unfortunately, an 8.5 earthquake in Chile threatened the area with a tsunami, so we put back out to the safety of the open sea. We made land in the afternoon, though, and got to first see several huge craters that were once volcanoes, then trek through the mud to see the tortoises, and last to walk through a lava tunnel large enough to drive a bus through.
